Violent Video Games And Kids Should Not Mix

By Stacey Reid

There is a need for violent video games to be toned down. Violent video games and kids are a bad combination and is another bad avenue alongside movies that influence kids negatively. Kids love violence because they know they should not be watching it, especially if it has a mature rating. They do not see how destructive violent video games can be on them.

Honestly, violent video games and kids should not cross the same path. There is enough violence in movies to do more than enough harm in kids. Video games are more addictive than watching movies which should raise a red flag amongst parents and video game makers. But because the sales of violent video games are so brisk, they will continue to make them. Kids like violence just as much as the adults do.

Violent video games contribute to good kids turning into bad kids. I would not say this if it was not for the amount of time kids spend playing these types of games. Kids can play video games for hours. They will skip meals to continue playing games. They will miss playing outside with their friends for the sake of playing more video games. The violent video games are more interesting to them because there is so much more exposure to negative influences on these games. Kids are drawn to anything that is negative, especially if it is attached to game play.

Another attraction to violent video games and kids is the exposure to learning the violence that is displayed. Certain fighting techniques are exposed in detail that kids begin to have an interest in. The shooting scenes are so graphic that kids can envision themselves performing those acts. The profanity is very strong in many games which is easily learned by gamers and used immediately in their conversation with their friends.

Kids that take losing hard are very aggressive natured. There are many kid that will begin to throw things after they lose a game. They are easily interested in starting fights with others because they can not handle losing. This is not really to be blamed on video games but is a reaction that kids have associated with video games. If parents do not step in and address situations like this with their kids then kids have a tendency to grow up getting bitter easily and allowing anger to ruin their lives. Violent video games and kids do not mix.
