Aug 17, 2007
California is a beautiful state, one with culture and cuisine. Tourists come from all over the world to experience the sunny climate, sandy beaches and exciting nightlife that is popular in California. California has many places of interest like Los Angeles, Hollywood, Disneyland and Napa Valley. Napa valley is located towards the North of San Francisco and is the second most visited place in California.

Napa valley is well known not only for its scenic surroundings, but also for its more than two hundred wineries. Napa valley attracts more than five million visitors only because of its wineries, which produce some of the best wines in the world. Tourists are not the only ones who come to Napa Valley, chefs, wine samplers and gourmet food and wine lovers come here to enjoy the drink of the gods, wine.

Napa valley is a stunning place and bursting with things to do and see. Tours are the best way to explore the Napa valley area. You can explore the history, museums, wild life, sanctuaries, art and of course the famous Napa wineries on any of these tours. There are several types of tours you can indulge in; you can take a bus tour, a train tour, a limousine tour, a hot air balloon tour or an adventurous bike tour.

Wine tours are organized by the wineries themselves. They are a way of marketing the wines and observing the way they are made. These wine tours take people on a 30-mile tour of the entire valley, starting from Napa and passing Oakville, St. Helena, Calistoga and Yountville. When you are indulging in a wine tour you can sample some of the most popular wines of the world that are made in Napa.

You can even be a part of the wine making process and watch the grafting, harvesting, pressing of grapes, blending of the juice and aging. Some wineries allow tourists to take part in the exciting grape stomping or the pressing process. Children and teens love this the most. Sampling the wines is the best part of a wine tour. Small samples are served to the people along with cheese. You can even buy bottles of your favorite wine at discounted prices.

The wine tours are conducted everyday, starting in the morning and ending well before the sun goes down. While on a wine tour, you get to visit four wineries. You can arrange for a group wine tour and travel in luxury. There are special limousine wine tours that are at the epitome of touring luxury. Other touring options are buses, sedans or touring aboard the Napa Valley Wine train. The Napa Valley wine train is a three-hour ride, which takes you through the sites stops over at two wineries. This train tour includes lunch and of course lots of wine.

There are more than 280 wineries in Napa Valley. Each winery is unique in its own way, with different atmosphere, tradition and wines. If you are looking for a winery that specializes in white wine then choose accordingly.
