Tips on Home Schooling Your Child
So you have made the decision. You are going to have your child home schooled. Now the hard work begins on your part. You must now investigate the best institution that will help you design and find the right home school teacher for your child. There are many out there so be prepared to attended a lot of meetings and schedule a lot of interviews because that is what you are going to have to do to ensure your child is getting the best possible home school education.
When investigating home schooling make sure that the Home school curriculum has the following courses, history, science, music, geography, math, English and the arts to ensure no gaps in instruction. Make sure that the institution you are dealing with has the best classroom tested materials, teacher created Lesson Manuals, and proven educational methodologies. Ask to see references and testimonials from other patrons of their institution.
When locating a home school teacher you want to look for the following qualities. A teacher who will motivate for your child to do his or her best work. A teacher who will provide you with an evaluation of the work your child does in all subjects. And you also want to be provided with a certificate of completion and a transcript as your child will need one or both of these when applying to a College or University in the future.
Parents can also be the teacher for their child. All parents have to do is to find an institution that will help guide you in course choices, curriculum set up and grading. As the teacher you also want to learn how to cope with any problems your child may encounter while being taught a particular course.
There are institutions that help parents to home school their children. These institutions have instructors on staff that will help the parent to create the curriculum and who will also mark the assignments of the child. These institutions can be costly so make sure to investigate them thoroughly.
Personally, I feel that if you have decided to have your child home schooled then it is best to have a professional home school teacher teach them. Think about it this way, look how hard it is to get your child to clean their own room, imagine the struggle you will have trying to get them to participate in class when Mom or Dad is their teacher.
