You have to place yourself in your potential clients' shoes and look at life through their eyes. Think about moving into a home in a new area and everything you need to do in order to get settled. First, there is the tremendous stress factor of moving, especially if you do not know anyone in the new area. As a massage therapist you can capitalize on this fact.
If you were moving into a new area, you would have to find new services and businesses to frequent. Once the move is complete, the boxes are unpacked and you are somewhat situated, then it is time to look for familiar services that you were accustomed to before the move.
It is time to find a new gym, grocery store, doctor and etc. If you did not know anyone you could trust in the area, it would be an overwhelming and stressful task. As a massage therapist in the area, you can capitalize by acting before they have time to find someone else to provide their massage therapy needs. Here is how to do just that.
Someone who would best know who will be moving into your area is a local real estate agency. Having a relationship with a real estate agent or agency will give you a leg up, but if you do not then it is time to network with the real estate agencies in your area.
1. If you do not have a client, friend or acquaintance that is a real estate agent, then look through your newspaper or free local real estate circular, pick out a few real estate agents and give them a call. Ask if you can schedule a fifteen-minute meeting to discuss an offer for them to reward their clients.
2. Write a welcome letter similar to this "I wanted to be the first to welcome you to {your city}. Our business, {your business name}, offers {list your services}. Since our number one goal is customer service, we focus on running a dependable business, dedicated to serving our clients through personalized service, emergency appointments and flexible hours.
Knowing the stresses of moving into a new area, we would like to welcome you to the area by offering you $10 off your first appointment with us. Just mention this welcome letter when you call in to schedule your appointment. This is just one way we would like to show you that we do care about our customers.
Give us a call today to relax, de-stress and we promise to work out your tension."
3. Make a package containing the welcome letter and your company brochure listing your services to be mailed to the new potential client. Make sure you type the welcome letter on your company stationery.
4. At the meeting with the real estate agent, show him/her the welcome package. Ask the agent if they would be willing to give you their mailing list for new home owners or renters so that you can send them the welcome package. Offer the agent one dollar cash or one dollar in your services for each lead. If the agent is not willing to give you their mailing list, ask if you can prepare the welcome packages in a sealed, stamped envelope that they can add the address label to and place in their customer mailings.
5. If it does not work out with the agent, then find another real estate agency and repeat the process. This is a very inexpensive way to get your name out and meet new potential clients.
