An increasing number of people are producing and distributing their own podcast and have built up their own audience.
No matter what stage of podcasting you are at, whether you're just starting or already have a fan base, you may well be interesting in ways you might be able to take advantage of this and make money from your podcast.

Sell New Episodes of Your Podcast
When most people try to think of a way to earn money from their podcast, this is their first idea. It does seem the logical way forward. However, it is not necessarily the best way.
People have got used to the idea that podcasts are free. Unless you have a very loyal following, selling a podcast might not be the way forward.
Get Your Podcast Sponsored
Getting your podcast sponsored is another common way for people to try to monetize their podcast.
If you have a very large number of listeners, this is a good option. It is also a possibility if you have a podcast focussed on a specific product - one which manufacturers will be will to pay to get in front of potential customers.
Affiliate Income
If you send your listeners to sites like eBay and Amazon, you can earn a percentage of the profits from items they buy. If you promote products in your podcast, you can earn commission on sales.
The only problem is that this does require a little technical know-how to make it work in a podcast.
Sell Your Old Podcasts
If you have a large back catalog of podcasts, this is a goldmine. Whilst your most recent podcasts are free, you can sell your old podcasts. This has the advantage of giving value to your long term listeners and having something to hook in to.
Create Your Own Products
There are a number of options for you to create your own products. Using a service such as CafePress, you can create t-shirts, badges, buttons etc featuring your podcast's logo. This is a great way to tap into the popularity of your podcast.
