Great Smelling Coffee Beans
Those who love a good cup of coffee should learn as much as they can about coffee beans. Though most ground coffee tastes just fine, there is something comforting about a cup of coffee that has been made from freshly ground beans just a few minutes before brewing. There are many different types of beans out there, and choosing the right ones might take a bit, but most can easily figure out what they like and how to keep those beans fresh before they are used.
In order to grind your own coffee beans, you have to have a grinder. These can be rather inexpensive. Though there are ones that slice, the burr variety is much better. However, both work well. Grind the beans in short bursts until it resembles the coffee grounds you get out of a pre-ground package. Use the same amount of grounds as you would normally use for your coffee. Though some like to grind just enough coffee beans for each pot, you can ground a few days worth and store them in the refrigerator for freshness.
The coffee beans you choose to grind will make or break your great pot of coffee. You may want to try many different brands before you decide on the one that works best for you. If you love Starbucks, you can find their coffee in bean form in many stores. Some have displays in the store so you can measure out your own coffee beans. This is a great way to experiment, because you can get just a little of each kind to see what you like best. Just dont forget to label your bags so you dont get confused.
Some say that you should store your coffee beans in the freezer to keep them fresh. That will work, but you dont have to do that if you dont want to. I always get enough coffee beans to last me one week, and I keep them in a cool, dry place that is out of the sun. Heat and sunlight can weaken your beans, and change the flavor of them.
Also remember that you can mix and match. There are many days when I mix caffeinated beans with decaf so that I can enjoy my coffee but I can have less caffeine without eliminating it all together. Probably the best part about the beans is the freshness, but the options for variety are great as well.
