Is This The End of An Era For Wrist Watches?
Time is gold. It is true that time is very important; however, there are many ways to know if one is out of time. The most traditional way of finding out the time is through one's wristwatch. But nowadays, there are a lot of ways to know time, and wristwatches are not the most popular.
Wrist watches are in the verge of becoming obsolete or phased out. Some people do not wear watches anymore because the only thing it does is to tell time. If one wants to know what time is it, one can look into his cellular phone. The thing is, people don't need a watch anymore to know what time is it because there are other mediums to know the time and also, watches will cost you a great deal of money.
If one has to choose between a cool cellular phone with either an analog or digital clock with the exact date including what day and the year on one hand, and a classic wristwatch on the other hand, definitely, a person will pick the cellular phone. Aside from knowing the time and the date, it can send voice messages and electronic mails, can receive and make calls, and other cellular phones can connect to the internet.
The question now is why are there still people who use wristwatches? I think the answer can be summarized in three separate terms namely fashion, convenience and status.
Wrist watches will never be obsolete because of fashion. Most people use watches not only to know time but as an everyday accessory. Others have many watches just to complement what they are wearing and others buy watches to express their personality.
Some people just want to show-off their Gucci or Anne Klein to tell that they are not out of fashion, and some just wanted to show their cool spider-man collectors item watch. There are many fashion connected watches that suits any personality. Whether a person is a sophisticated and sleek diva, that nerd collector, or even a punk, there is always the right fashion watch for you.
Most people say that wearing a wristwatch is quite irritating, but this statement does not apply to others. It is very convenient to know the time when one is wearing a wristwatch. With just a stroke of the hand, one can already know what time is it.
Compare this when one is looking for time with the use of a cellular phone, one has to take out his cellular phone from his pocket or bag, then he has to press the unlock button to see the time. An example of this inconvenience is when one is taking a certain examination; surely, one is not allowed to bring out his cellular phone. How can he now tell the time and determine whether he has still time to answer his questions?
Finally, a person's social status may be established by just looking at one's wristwatch. If one is wearing a brand by Rolex or Cartier, one will already have an idea as to the social status of a person. Other persons use this watch stated just to show off, but that is his choice.
