H1B Visa 2010 - What to Expect?
Every year USCIS accepts H1B Visa petitions from April 1. With few days for April-1-2009, number of H1B Visa petitions expected to be submitted in first week is less.
TARP companies that are receiving bailout money cannot hire H1B workers for next 2 years. They can hire, but new rules have made it very strict. So, chances that more H1b workers will be hired by those companies are less.
New restrictions were added into stimulus bill to prevent companies receiving TARP bailout money from hiring H1B Visa workers. This new H1B rule will be in effect for next 2 years. Already few banks have canceled job offers to candidates that require H1B Visa sponsorship.

Getting I797 approval is will take longer than usual 3-4 months processing time. But, if you apply for H1b through major company or corporation, you might not face any issues. But, if you dont have job offer from such companies, then you have to depend on small consulting companies.
If more applications are submitted then lottery will be there and some will get unlucky. But will there be random selection FY 2010? If so, how many applications will be submitted?
Expect to get H1B approval with delayed time frame for FY2010. Due to recent arrests made related to H1B Visa fraud, small consulting companies come under radar, where more documents are required for processing and approval of H1B visa.
Premium processing of H1B Visa for year 2009 might not expedite the H1B approval process if RFE is issued. One cannot get more preference by paying $1000 more for premium processing. But, submitting multiple applications through different employer can improve your chances. So make sure employer can handle query if USCIS asks for more information. Find out hoe H1B they got approved in last 2-3 years.
