Daniella Westbrook to Return to Eastenders as Sam Mitchell
Well there is always something happening in the land of Eastenders and the recent announcement is that Daniella Westbrook will return to the soap as character Sam Mitchell. Westbrook has not been seen in Eastenders since 2000. Now 35 she first joined the show in 1990, she initially left in 1996 and then rejoined for another year in 1999.
Her role was then taken by Kim Metcalf who spent three years on the show. There has been a huge amount of buzz as to who was going to be recalled out of the actresses. It is rumoured that Kim Metcalf turned down the role to return as she has joined ITV medical drama Harley Street. Sam Mitchell the character was last seen dashing off too Brazil after becoming a suspect in the dirty den murder case.
So what sort of storyline could we expect from Sam Mitchells return, let's take a brief look at what is currently happening and what could develop.
First Storyline I am sure that Sam Mitchell would have to face the police on her return, this could then lead on to her being put into prison and looking for a way to get out.
Second Storyline Things have been kicking off with the Mitchells lately as Archie has been caught out and caused the death of Ronnie's daughter. In a recently screened episode Peggy told Phil to kill Archie so maybe Phil could be getting sent down for murder, which ultimately leads Sam to return.
Third Storyline It could again open up the doors for the whole Mitchell family to return by bringing back Grant who needs to try and save Phil from jail. The last time grant returned was again to save Phil and his sister Sam from rotting behind bars.
Whatever is in store I am sure that we are going to experience a whole set of explosive storylines. Eastenders has been criticised for killing off a popular character, so they are doing all that they can to make the most of it and cause the Mitchells to wreak havoc. Westbrook, a self-confessed former cocaine addict, took part in I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here! in 2003 but left because she was worried it was affecting her recovery from drug addiction.
"I can't wait to get the scripts to see what Sam Mitchell has been up to since she was last in the Square," said Westbrook.
