Learn Proper Form - Dominate With A Baseball Bat

Baseball is a relatively simple game to play compared to other, more complicated sports. Football, for example, requires various members of the team to work together, zig-zagging in intricate patterns, blocking, faking, and connecting with passes. In baseball, it's pitcher versus batter, then a mad dash.

That isn't to say that it's easy. To be great at it requires skill and experience. Both of which can be achieved through a dedication to practice. So, get your equipment, and go to the nearest baseball park or even the backyard. Batting is a great place to start.

You'll need a friend or a nice, pitching machine for this. Here are some tips on how to hit the ball effectively:

1. Hold the bat properly, as if holding an ax. For right-handers, the left hand is close to the knob at the end of the bat end and the right hand above it.

2. Firmly grip the bat and rest it on your finger, not on your palm.

3. Position yourself properly in the batter's box.

4. Stand firmly and assume your most comfortable posture. You can try different positions until you find the one that works well for you.

5. Hold the bat away from your body and be ready to swing.

6. Keep your eyes on the ball. Step forward towards the pitch but keep your head and body steady.

7. Evaluate the pitch and move accordingly. Swing the bat according to the pitch.

8. Watch the bat as it strike the ball. Complete your swing by pivoting forward, shifting the weight of your body to your front foot. Don't stop swinging after the bat hits the ball. It's important to have a good follow-through.

Your grip is very important in order to hit the ball well. Here are things that you should watch for as you hold the bat:

1. Your non-dominant hand should be at the bottom, near the knob. If you are a right-hander your non-dominant hand is your left.

2. Put your dominant hand on top of the other hand. For a right hander, place your right hand on top of your left.

3. The weight of the bat should rest on the palm of your dominant hand, which will provide the force. The other hand will be the guide.

4. While waiting for the pitch, the bat should be held at 45 degrees.

5. Pick a bat that is of comfortable length and weight. You have the wrong bat if you can't keep it still for a long time.

The ball is the most important thing in the batter's life. He needs to focus his attention on the ball while keeping a comfortable posture and proper position. He needs to decide whether to hit the ball or not relative to the strike zone. That is the imaginary area between the top of the name on his jersey and the knee, and between the two ends of the plate.

The batter has three chances to hit the ball if it enters the strike zone. If he fails the third, then he will be out. Do not be that batter. Keep your grip and your form in mind. And above all, keep practicing.
