MBA Recommendation Letter Tips For Success

Congratulations on having an interest in an MBA program from one of the top schools in the nation. Likely you have been thinking on this for a long time and have made your decision to further your education because you know it will make a difference for your future. You are probably wondering about the requirements you might need to get into the MBA program at a school like Stanford or Harvard.

Of course there is the application process where you will need to tell the school more about you. You will need to have already completed a 4 year degree at an accredited school as well as the completion of the GMAT (General Management Admissions Test) --as well as some other tests--before you apply. And in many cases, you will be asked to provide 2 or 3 MBA recommendation letters from current business associates.

The truth is, graduate schools want to make sure you have some work experience or are well-liked by your current business associates. They want to know how your current managers feel about your work ethic, your attitude and your leadership ability. You'll want to find a few people to write your MBA recommendation letter for you and who can highlight the most positive things about you so that your MBA application goes through with flying colors.

The most important thing to look for in a potential recommendation writer is that they have interacted with you over the course of your work/life experience. While finding someone with a big title is nice, you want someone who can go into depth about some of your strength's and weaknesses.

Ideally, this person will have the interaction experience with you but will still have a high enough title that they will not seem like someone on your level. And, most importantly, you will want someone who has the time to do this for you as it is a very important part of the application process.

An MBA recommendation letter shows the university that you have the potential to make waves in their program. They want to know what you're all about and why they should allow you into their prestigious program. If you have a history of being a leader and if you have the willingness to learn all the aspects of a business, then this will shine through in your recommendation letters.

As a whole, the recommendation letters that are written for you should support aspects of the essays you will have to write to get into a prestigious MBA program. That is why you may want to work very closely with the letter writer so that there is some synergy there. Of course, you can't write the letter for them, but it is good to give them some guidelines on what you'd like them to express in their letter.

Working toward your MBA is a big step. Not only is it a financial investment, but it is also takes a lot of time and effort. That's why universities want to make sure you are prepared, are well-liked by your associates, and you have what it takes to make it through their program. Having successful people write great recommendation letters about you is the fastest way to prove to the university just who you are.
