Learn How Chronograph Watches Work
A chronograph watch is quite a complicated watch with respect to its function. A watch has many functions to choose from, however, it is quite suitable only for outdoor use or sports.
A chronograph watch has the ability to do split seconds timing or lap timing. This is perfect for track and field athletes or swimming athletes, in order to catch the actual time of sprint. In relation to this stopwatch feature, some chronograph watches offer a fly back chronograph feature which can reset the timer while it is currently running.
Other watches have a second or third time zone. In effect there will be three 12 hour marks in case of analog watches for three time zones, in case of a digital watch, there will be three time screen, or maybe there is only one screen but there is an indication of what time zone the owner has chosen. This feature is ideal for those who travel in and out of one's country. Whenever one is traveling from one country to another, he will not longer adjust his watch as often as he travels.
Almost all chronograph watches, whether analog or digital, has a date display. This allows one to check the date, however, some analog chronograph watches use a rotating date in order to show the date, as such, it is not accurate and must be adjusted from time to time. This happens because not all months carry 31 days, some are 30, 29, or 28. Other chronograph watches offer day of week display, but this is true only in case of Digital watches.
Another feature is the display of zone solar time, sidereal and true local solar time. Actually, this feature is kind of useless as one is not interested in zone solar time. But, what the heck, it is an additional feature.
Another interesting feature is the inclusion of time of sunset and time of sunrise. One doesn't have to consult a newspaper or the television news in order what the time the sun will rise or will set.
Please don't be misled that just because it is a watch it is automatically a digital watch. There are several types of chronograph watches. First, we have the analog watches. This uses a one to twelve numbers or representations and has at least three hands to tell time. It has an additional hand that may be used as a stopwatch.
Second is the Digital chronograph watch that uses a digital display for timekeeping. When one is using this watch as a stopwatch, it uses the same digital display, and temporarily hides the time. Third is a mixture of both analog and digital. It may happen that the time is analog but the stopwatch is digital, or it may be the other way around.
Chronograph watches are pretty cool when it is compared with fashion watches. It appears usually big and heavy than a normal watch. Also, it is quite expensive. Some popular brands of watches that one may look into include Rolex, Armani, Timex and many more.
