Things To Make And Do With Duct Tape
Everyone knows that the universe is indeed held together with duct tape. That wonderful gray stuff that can mend almost anything is now available in a rainbow of colors. People all over the world are finding fun, silly and just plain interesting things to do with duct tape. This is a quick selection of ideas that people have tried and that have actually worked. Have a go at a few just for fun, or think up your own crazy uses for duct tape.
Make a duct tape book cover: Either stick to one color or go super bright. Measure out the area you will need to cover with room for overlapping round the corners. Build up your cover with overlapping strips of duct tape and then apply to your book. If you are worried about how well the book cover can take it you can play safe by putting a sheet of grease proof paper or something similar on the cover first. Then decorate your duct tape cover with marker pens or stickers.
Duct tape wallets and bags are all the rage this season. Wallets can be made entirely from duct tape, using thin cardboard as a base. You can add in as many pockets as you like, just make sure your edges are folded over well so you don't get any adhesive eventually seeping through. Bags can be made using any old scraps of material and then joined together with duct tape, no sewing! The idea is to make the duct tape show up as part of the whole bag design.
Try a pair of duct tape shoes. This can be a little tricky and they probably won't last very long, but if you are careful who knows. Use an inner sole from an old pair of shoes as a base and just build your duct tape up and around to form a shoe.
Liven up your old picture frames with a new coat of duct tape. The gray is really effective and with a bit of a rub down with some ink can give quite a cool distressed look.
Make yourself a nice flexible belt from duct tape. Measure out the length you need then overlap your tape to create the width you want. Punch out some holes and add a buckle.
Create a wild colored duct tape cover for your phone or mp3 player. Great protection at a great price and everyone else will soon want one too.
Make some duct tape flowers then use them in an arrangement. Roses are probably easiest as once you have your strips of duct tape all you need to do is twist them round and round. Start out tight in the middle, holding firmly and just keep twirling.
Add duct tape stripes to old flower pots and then use marker pen to put cool designs on the tape.
Make a hat using bright colored duct tape. You can cheat a little by using an old cap as a base, or start from scratch with some light cardboard.
While some of these may seem a little weird, duct tape is just plain good fun to play with. Why not have a go and see what you can come up with?
