Loft Conversions London Making The Most Of Space

By Derek Both
May 15, 2009
When I was a kid, I was lucky enough to have a games/play room in the loft. It was an old house which was three stories tall so had a large loft/attic space with the ceiling being high enough to be able to walk around in the room without stooping down. I had my table soccer up there and my small blue cloth billiards table not to mention a hundred star wars figures peeping out from lots of secret hiding places ready to attack unsuspecting passers by!

It was a magical time and none of it would have been possible without that great loft space. If you have children of your own, you may wish you had a little extra space for them to play in safely. If you have loft space, this might be the ideal place to put a play room or a games room for the kids. Of course a play room isnt the only option you might have; perhaps an extra bedroom would be more suitable to you or even a small office.

Also, if you are lucky enough to have a decent loft space above your home you may without knowing already be in possession of prime piece of extra real estate. Loft conversions are becoming ever more popular as home owners seek extra living space for themselves and at the same time increase the value of their property.

Rather than by a new property, many people are now deciding to simply expand what they already own and improving quality of living in doing so. If eventually they decide to move on, the loft conversion will almost definitely add value to your property with amounts varying depending on location, style of property and conversion cost. For example a loft conversion in London will reflect generally in the property values of that area.

Some estate agents say that having a loft conversion to increase your living space can work out being 75 percent cheaper than simply buying a new property of the same size. (Including loft conversion)

Loft conversions have come a long way in recent years now that the conversions are finished to very high standards, having to meet all the legal building regulations. In days gone by, loft conversions tended to be extremely rudimentary and the building and fire regulations are a world away from what they were back in the sixties for example.

So if you have that loft or attic space just wasting away and gathering dust, then why not consider an exciting loft conversion that could make your life more comfortable or your property sale more profitable.
