Top 5 Things To Remember When Writing A Corporate Blog

By Christopher Reinhold
May 20, 2009
Corporate blogs are an invention of modern internet age and have benefited organizations in achieving their goals and spreading awareness about their goals among the masses. For every company to succeed in the corporate world, it has to take care of consumer demand and ensure their satisfaction. If any company ignores consumer satisfaction, then it is sure to face severe difficulties in surviving the tough competition world of today.

Information about the company's progress, and the user opinion of the company and its progress, are vital for every company's success. This process is very difficult and many factors and variables need to be considered. However, with the help of the internet, many companies can achieve this goal with less difficulty - and also in a cost effective manner i.e. with the help of corporate blogs and forums.

The reason why many companies choose these tools to get the latest information about user opinions and their reaction to the company's progress and future aim is that this method is highly cost effective and the company is able to receive comments in an orderly and centralised manner. The RSS feed feature provided by many web browsers allows users to keep track of new posts and comments. Company PR can also be improved and maintained by using these internet tools. However, many corporate blogs have some errors which make them ineffective, and many users would not return to these blogs due to such problems.

(1) Before starting a blog, make sure you have all the information you need to write a blog and that you have the effective writing style needed for this task. Many people lack in this area, and thus their blogs are highly ineffective and fail to gain the attention of many internet users. It would be advised that such people read similar successful blogs of other people and get a basic idea as to how they should be written.

(2) Many marketers follow the tradition of marketing their products excessively on their sites. This is a definite "No" for anyone trying to gain attention of users. Bragging too much about a product is sure to turn away any potential visitor to the blog. Always try to be discrete and write in a uniquely attractive way to give people something different to read about.

(3) Another technical flaw often found is that they always talk about their own company and their products. They practically run their advertising campaign on these blogs and hardly include any other company or firm in their blogs. To make a blog interesting, one should include links to other research being done and useful information not about the company but about other similar things, as it will help gain the interest of people.

(4) Many people follow the default format of blogging software packages, and thus make their blogs look dull and lose the touch of uniqueness. It is highly recommended that while writing a blog one should use creativity to give a unique touch to it.

(5) Last but not the least, one should organise the 'about' page of their blog effectively, so as to tell people who they are and what they do. Novice bloggers overlook this fact and thus fail to provide the appropriate information to visitors of their blog sites.
