Top 5 Signs You Need a PC Medic

Aug 17, 2007
The funny thing about computers is that most of us now rely on them to do everything from banking and working to playing and talking to friends, but almost none of us know how to fix them. Fortunately, for those of us who aren't very good at working on computers, there are some great pc medic tools available. Whether they are preloaded programs that help ferret out problems or add on programs purchased by computer owners, these pc medic tools can be very useful.

The only problem with these tools comes in when a computer novice is trying to figure out if there's actually a problem that requires servicing. It's a simple fact that some computer problems are so unspecific that the uninitiated don't even realize they have problems.

To help out, we've put together this list of signs to look for. If these show up, it might be time to run a good pc medic program, buy one and install it or even visit a service center. Many people, even service centers themselves, will recommend running preliminary diagnostics before enduring costly repair fees, so here's what to watch for:

* Slow performance. This is one of the hardest things for a novice pc owner to realize. Computers sometimes just run slow. The cause of this could be something as simple as a one-time bad Internet connection or a background update going on while other programs are opened. If the perceived slowness continues beyond a single use, however, it's a good idea to run a pc medic program just to make sure everything is okay.

* Crashes. A single crash here and there isn't necessarily indicative of a big problem. Lots of crashes, especially during saves, can be. Run a diagnostic program if this keeps happening.

* The computer won't allow the removal or addition of new programs. This is almost always the symptom of something wrong within the computer. A good pc medic program can help find out what's wrong and guide in its correction.

* Won't shut down or turn on without a fight. A single issue with this doesn't mean a big problem, however, if it crops up time and time again, it's wise to run a pc medic program to find the source of the problem.

* Requires frequent rebooting. If your computer runs fine for a while, seems to fizzle out and then runs correctly again after rebooting, there could be a problem with the Windows registry. Again, a single occurrence of this doesn't mean a huge issue, necessarily, but repeat performances could spell trouble. A good pc medic program will help find that problem.

Dealing with computer problems can be a real nightmare for a novice. Sometimes it's even hard to tell there is a problem, especially if symptoms are intermittent or vague. Any time a computer slows down for an extended period of uses, has difficulty turning on or shutting down or just doesn't seem to work like it did before, it could be the sign of a problem. This is where a good pc medic program can come in and literally save the day and a trip to a repair shop.
