Notebook PC's Are Not Just For Professionals, They Are Also Popular With Students

Aug 17, 2007
On College Campuses across the country, you are seeing more and more students using notebook PC's in the classroom. Notebook PC's are a perfect fit for a college student because they are light and easy to take notes on. Organizing notes is also much easier on a Notebook PC then with pen and paper. Notebooks are also very useful for quickly logging online and are great for keeping notes organized all while double checking facts or doing research online.

Students want their Notebooks to be lightweight, but also rugged and durable. They need to be light enough to carry around campus all day. But they need to be able to handle the rough treatment that most students subject them to. They need to be able to handle being tossed into a back pack and light enough to not be a burden when walking across campus.

Battery life is also a feature that is important to student when it comes to picking the right notebook PC. If a student is on campus all day, it may not be easy to recharge a battery so it is very important for a long battery life. You definitely do not want for your batteries to die in the middle of a lecture or while working at the library.

Size is very important too. Notebooks need to be thin and small enough to fit on a cramped desk, or even to be able to fit on your lap because desks are not always available.

And finally, one of the most important features that a college student is looking for in a notebook pc is price. On a student's budget, many of the notebooks on the market are out of the question.

If you are a student in the market for a notebook PC, you may want to consider the Twinhead Durabook N14RA. This notebook pc is decently priced and quite durable. The company's websites claims this notebook pc to be drop resistant, shock resistant and spill resistant. Its dimensions are 12.25 X 10 inches with a 14.1 inch screen, and it is only 1.3 inches thick and weighs less than 6 pounds. The processor is the AMD64 which is not very common, but is especially geared for low power consumption. The Twinhead Durabook N14RA is moderately affordable starting at $999.

The Toshiba Tecra A6-EZ6311 Notebook PC is a bit more affordable at about $850-$900. It is not at durable as the previous notebook pc, but is still spill resistant. The dimensions are 13.5 X 9.53 and is 1.5 inches in height and weighs 5.2 pounds. The processor is the Centrino Core Duo Processor T2300E and runs at a 1.66 GHz speed. Another great feature is its one touch biometric fingerprint security management of log-on, files and folders.

The Averatec N2300 series is a full featured notebook pc. This notebook pc offers dual core processing in an ultra thin and ultra light form. The dimensions are 11.69 X 8.38 and is 1.44 inches tall. It is also very lightweight at 4.08 lbs. The processor is the Turion 64X2 TL-50 and has a 1.6GHz speed. This notebook PC is also priced to sell at $699.99.

The Compaq EVO N610c is priced much better then most other notebook PC's at $429.99. The catch is it is refurbished. This does not mean the PC will not work well, it just means that you are getting a great price on a Notebook PC. The dimensions are 12.1 X 9.8 and has a height of 1.2 inches. It is also very lightweight at 5.5 pounds. The processor is the Intel Pentium 4 Mobile and has a speed of 1.8 GHz. This really is a great notebook for the price and is hard to pass up. It will fill the needs of the typical college student or professional.

There are many options when it comes to picking the right notebook PC if you are a student or a parent of a college student. Remember to keep in mind your budget, the size, weight, speed and battery life of the notebook PC before making a purchase. So if you are not using a notebook PC, what are you waiting for, go out there and do some more research to find the right notebook PC for your needs.
