Anyone That Visits Turkey Will Want To Return
Turkey sounds so far away that it's hard to picture yourself as actually going there on vacation. It is very far away, especially considering some parts are in Europe and some are in West Asia, from the standpoint of Geography. More and more people are traveling to distant locations with the help of travel agencies and airlines giving special rates. Better practice your language skills before you go, however, as they speak more than just Turkish, their official language. Greek, Kurdish, Arabic are few more languages they speak in Turkey. If you're a smart traveler, you will have booked your vacation far in advance so you'll have plenty of time to learn or brush up on the important parts of the language.
With the exception of travelers coming from the United Kingdom, most other travelers coming from Western Europe will not need to have a visa. Although it's not very practical or done very often, you can still travel from Europe to Turkey by train and enjoy a leisurely ride. In fact, a train ride is a great way to relax and see the country, if you're not in any hurry to reach your destination. Some recent movies have made train rides appear very romantic. Most tourists, however, still arrive by airplane, which is the most practical and quickest. They offer a very efficient taxi service waiting to serve you. Another form of transportation is buses, which are still very popular and offer a great crew in addition to the food and drinks you'll receive.
Some people choose to drive themselves while in Turkey. You will need to drive very slow and carefully as their roads are very poorly maintained. This is contributed as the main reason the accident rate is so high in Turkey.
There are many things to do while on vacation in Turkey. In the summertime, many enjoy water sports you can enjoy. Sightseeing is great here as well with places like the Ayasofya Museum, Mt. Nemrut, Topkapi Palace as well as the ancient city of Troy. Winter in Turkey gives you some great skiing as they have some great hills here. Hiking and sightseeing can be combined year round in Turkey, especially if you are interested in seeing wildlife, which may include many rare species that have been government protected.
Mealtimes are always the best time of the day when vacationing. I recommend everyone try Turkey cuisine at least once in their life. If you like lamb, you will enjoy their food as it is used often in their food, along with much seasoning.
Anyone that visits Turkey will agree that their stay was everything they had hoped it would be.
