The Best Used Rifle Scope For Your Money
Having tried out most every rifle scope on the market, I've learned the never failing principle; you get what you pay for. It is true for nearly every piece of equipment you buy from electronics to jewelry. When buying equipment brand new you know you'll take care of it especially when paying for a really nice piece of equipment. If your buying used the warranty provided by the manufacturer comes into play. If you buy a cheap used rifle scope, like a Tasco, Swift, NcStar, or BSA scope there is really no point in buying used. In the end these scopes will give you more headaches than they're worth since you won't be able to hit the broad side of a barn.
If you are planning to purchase an expensive used rifle scope like a Leupold, Zeiss, or Trijicon, you're getting a top of the line scope that the manufacturer stands behind and offers a more generous warranty. Purchasing a Swarovski is a great investment as their quality is second to none. Their housings are milled from a solid piece of aluminum and can take a beating in any environment. It is important that your rifle scopes can take a beating out in the woods, and maintain its accuracy. Buy a great used scope and you'll not regret the few extra dollars you had to invest in your hobby.
If you are looking for the best bang for the buck, check out Nikon rifle scopes. You can find a Buckminster or Monarch for about $250. Their flagship rifle scope, the Monarch offer 30mm tube variations and an incredible 95% light transmission specification. The Buckmaster offers a 92% light transmission. For $250 you can't beat the Nikon product.
With that said there is another company offering extreme value in the used rifle scope market. The Burris rifle scope is a quality scope and comes with a Forever warranty even if you're not the original owner. Imagine you buy a used scope and it fogs up on you when trying to zero it out. Send it back and get it fixed. Maybe the coating on the lens starts to chip. Take it back and get a new one. No matter what goes wrong you'll be glad you have a warranty that will be honored.
Remember before you buy your next scope. You get what you pay for. Consider all your options based on your requirements, but heavily consider the Nikon and Burris scopes as they offer some great quality at a great price.
