The 2009 Major League Soccer season is well underway, and the teams are already trying to make a name for themselves in the league. Stars from each of the teams are already emerging and drawing spotlight, but they aren't the only ones working hard. For FC Dallas, the coaching staff has been the behind the scenes force helping the team try to raise their standing in the league. They tied the Seattle Sounders FC on May 16, bringing their record to 1-6-2 in the Western Division. FC Dallas may not be at the top of their game right now, but the coaching staff is working hard to change that. Fans can see the team this season with FC Dallas tickets online.

Schellas Hyndman, Head Coach: Schellas Hyndman has had many years of experience both as a player and a coach. He is of Portuguese and Russian descent, but was born in Macau, China. When he was eight years old, his family moved to Ohio, and he was soon excelling in high school and club soccer. His talent led to him playing soccer at Eastern Illinois University. While there, he helped his team win the 1969 NAIA national championship.

He started playing in the American Soccer League with the Cincinnati Comets in 1975, but he only stayed there for a year. He left to be an apprentice with Escola Graduada de Sao Paulo in Sao Paulo, Brazil. He was soon back in the states to start coaching college soccer. He spent 31 seasons coaching in the college ranks, 24 of which were with Southern Methodist University. Hyndman took his team to the NCAA playoffs 30 times in his career. In the summer of 2008, Hyndman joined FC Dallas.

He started his coaching career in 1979 as the head coach of Montgomery College in Maryland. He then coached at the University of Maryland-Baltimore from 1981 to 1990. In 1990, he moved on to become the director of coaching for Columbia Soccer Association. While still with the CSA, he started coaching with the U.S. National Soccer team. In 1996, he was an assistant with the Columbus Crew, which was the team's first season in the MLS. He became the U.S. U-17 National Team's head coach in 1997, a position he stayed in until 2004. He was Real Salt Lake's head coach from 2004 to 2007. This year will be Ellinger's second with FC Dallas.

Marco Ferruzzi, Assistant Coach: Marco Ferruzzi may be a little younger than Hyndman and Ellinger, but he adds unique experiences to the coaching staff. He started in the MLS as a player in 1997 when he was selected in the Supplemental Draft by the Tampa Bay Mutiny. He didn't stay in the MLS long and soon moved to play in the A-League for the Minnesota Thunder and the Richmond Kickers. Ferruzzi has been an assistant with FC Dallas since 2004.

Drew Keeshan, Goalkeeper Coach: Drew Keeshan hails from Tipperary, Ireland and he started his professional career in the League of Ireland. He started with Waterford United in 1993 and moved from there to Limerick Football Club, Kilkenny City and Galway United.
