The Registry Cleaner Ripoff - The Story Behind the Headline
I read an article on a website recently which stated registry cleaners were of no use and people shouldn't waste their time or money on them. This author said he could not change his mind about this without seeing some convincing data.
In this article, I would like to make it clear registry cleaners are an important tool that should be used periodically as a regular part of computer upkeep. I will also make the case corruption in the registry will greatly diminish a computer's speed and overall performance.
This article doesn't contain any stat sheets or lab reports of any kind. Being a computer technician, I am concerned with the well-being of computers and it is from this point of view I will make my case.
Seeing is Believing
The reason I know cleaning the registry is a needed process for keeping a computer running at full speed and error free is because I've seen what a corrupt registry will do to a computer and I've used commercial registry cleaners to overcome this corruption many times. I have tons of thank you letters from satisfied customers whose computers were resurrected by registry cleaners.
The plain and simple fact is, registries do become corrupted and when they do, the computer's performance suffers, maybe even to the point of uselessness. The best way to deal with this problem is to use a good registry cleaner.
The newer operating systems, namely Windows XP and Vista corrupt easily, and because these OS's are so huge, a little bit of corruption goes a long way toward deteriorating their performance. As corruption builds up in the registry the computer's speed will suffer, errors will become frequent and the blue screen of death often will occur.
In the Real World of Computers
My livelihood is repairing computers. I've seen computers that were running so slowly they were taking 10 minutes to load a simple Web page and these computers were spyware and virus free. The owner did nothing wrong that would cause the PC to behave this way. Still, after using a good registry cleaner the computer ran great. I can't tell you how many times I've seen this has happen!
I have no idea why there are some who are preaching against registry cleaners when I have seen them save computers from their demise time and time again!
There is no harm that can be done by getting a registry scan on your computer. All the good ones offer a free scan. So, if you find no corruption, you're done. If you do find corruption and your computer isn't performing well, cleaning the registry will no doubt help cure your problem. If it doesn't, they have money back guarantees.
