How A Self Storage Unit In Portsmouth Saved My Business Space

By Thomas Pretty

The dream of the paperless office never really came true for my business - the office I work in is often swamped with paper and there are more filing cabinets than there are employees. At least that was the case before I had the idea of finding some storage in nearby Portsmouth to archive many of our old files.

Though most of our client records are now on the computer, many of them prefer to work with paper and send letters rather than emails and as we like to keep copies of all client correspondence, that soon adds up.

After watching the office become more and more cramped over the last couple of years, I decided that something had to be done - there were many cabinets full of files which we simply weren't using and I felt that it would make sense to have them archived rather than cluttering up the office and I began looking on the internet for a self storage company in Portsmouth which serviced businesses.

I found one which was quite easy to get to and offered units of up to a thousand square feet of space, meaning they could provide us with more than enough storage for our needs.

After a few days of going through the files with some of my employees to decide which ones to archive and which to keep to hand in the office, we had a substantial number of cabinets in a hired van ready to go into storage in Portsmouth.

The amount of space we have saved in the office is incredible; it's almost like working somewhere new, and now that the daunting initial task of going through the files to decide what to archive is out of the way, our office is much more organised with its paperwork.

Having a storage unit nearby in Portsmouth with all of our archived files safely stored away is also very useful as they're only a few minutes away if we find ourselves needing access and with the storage company offering us seven days a week access, we never need to worry about not being able to get to our archives. Combine this with the peace of mind that our files are safely stored in a secure, dry location and I'm surprised I never thought of it before.

If you find that your office is cramped because of old files or unused desks, I would recommend finding a self storage provider near you. With reasonable prices and clean, dry, secure storage units, you can free up space in your office while knowing that your possessions will be safe and easily accessible.
