WoW Hunter Guide - My Secrets Revealed
This WoW Hunter Guide will give you an introduction to the Hunter as well as point out their capabilities and drawbacks. You'll also learn how to effectively function in this class.
1.) Understanding the Class
Hunters are strong characters when in a group or when playing solo in World of Warcraft. One of the first things you may notice about a Hunter is that they can be kitted in chain armor. You'll also notice that they have a Survival skill tree. Don't assume that this makes them tanks however, they are not indestructible. Make sure you use Hunters according to their strengths which are their pets and their long range weapons.
2.) What Race Should I Pick?
Hunters can be played successfully by a wide rang of classes. The best of the bunch are the Night Elf and Dwarf for Alliance, and the Tauren, Orc, Troll, or Blood Elf for Horde. Each race has its own set of perks, but all can make good Hunters.
First you'll need to choose your faction, either Alliance or Horde. I then suggest you spend some time looking at the different races and finding out what their perks are before making your decision. Regardless of what race you choose however, in the end game it will come down to the knowledge you have of your class and the game in general.
3.) Leveling Up your Hunter
Leveling as a Hunter is in my opinion the easiest of all classes. Make good use of your pet and let it take the damage for you - don't wrap it in cotton wool, you can always heal it and resurrect it later. It's better to let your pet take a fall than you. If things get dire, throw your pet at the enemy and run away.
Make the most of your broad range of abilities. Hunters are equipped with a wide range of abilities including being able to resurrect and heal pets, engage numerous targets and use traps. If you take the time to learn what you're capable of you will do much better in the long run.
4.) Choosing a Pet
Being a Hunter you'll be able to tame animals. Its worth remembering that you pet will have a skill tree and acquire experience points as they go along. These points can be spent on enhancing abilities. You should also check to see the foods that your potential pet eats and make sure you have enough on hand. To do this go into the animals character sheet and move the mouse over the happiness symbol.
You should always monitor your pet's happiness closely. Keep it green all the time to ensure your pet is at its best potential. When the symbol changes to yellow, feed your pet.
5.) Talents
All Hunters have 3 talent trees.
Beast Mastery - This talent tree is focused on your pet. Use it to make you pet stronger and harder to kill.
Marksmanship - This tree concentrates on ranged DPS output. By concentrating in this tree you will significantly increase your DPS output.
Survival - This tree will help you with crowd control more than anything else.
Choose a tree that's going to suit your playing style. If you think you're most likely going to go it alone, then Beast Mastery will work best. Marksmanship might be the correct choice for PvP. Survival is in my opinion the least important tree unless you are planning to go in hand to hand combatbut then if you are planning on this then maybe a different class would work better.
The Hunter is a great all around class but they are in my humble opinion the masters of solo play. They make excellent characters to use as gatherers but if equipped, specced, and played well they can function quite well in any situation.
