MLS Tickets - Galaxy 1, FC Dallas 1
The Los Angeles Galaxy ended up with their eighth tie in 10 games after a 1-1 draw against FC Dallas last week. L.A. had an early lead with a one-man advantage for almost 70 minutes but couldn't pull off a victory against their opponents. Drew Moor got on the score board for Dallas (1-6-3) and tied up the match in the 31st minute. L.A. had plenty of scoring chances throughout the game as they finished with a 20-9 advantage in total shots. Eddie Lewis got the assist after he fed a pass over to Donovan from inside the left corner of the penalty box. Donovan was able to score the goal while being covered by defender Daniel Torres, as he deflected the shot into the net with his left foot. Although Donovan had a goal, he was very disappointed that his club didn't win the game. He told the press if his team played better they would have secured a victory. It was his 16 career MLS goal against FC Dallas, the most any player has scored against the club. Moor scored the equalizer by head - butting the ball into the left corner of the net from eight yards away.
Dave van den Bergh picked up the assist after he got a free kick from the right corner. Bergh said the play was something that his team practiced two- to - three times a week. Dallas played most of the game with one man down since midfielder Marcelo Saragosa was given a red card for pushing Lewis in the back of the head in the 25th minute. The club also earned six yellow cards during the match. L.A's Gregg Berhalter was irate over Saragosa's conduct on the field. He told the press he needs to keep his hands to himself and there was no room for plays like that in soccer. Moor expected a physical contest, since both teams are fighting for points, the game was feisty and chippy. Moor added that he didn't know any player who did not receive a yellow card.
L.A's Alan Gordon had an excellent scoring chance in the 13 minute when he hammered a shot from the top of the penalty box, but Dallas goalkeeper Ray Burse made a game winning save. Burse came up big again when he deflected a shot with his fingertips in the 19th minute. He finished the match with seven saves while Galaxy goalkeeper Donovan Ricketts had two key saves.
The Galaxy had eight shots on goal compared to FC's three. Galaxy coach Bruce Arena told his team they have to play quicker and a little bit cleaner if they expect to win any match. The coach also believes his club did not capitalize on their opportunities. Dallas coach Schellas Hyndman believes his team dogged a bullet. He said they played a very stressful game by being down a man for 65 minutes, but absorbed Galaxy's pressure.
