Valentine's Day Soap Bars
Custom made bars of soap are unique gifts to give for use or decoration purposes. Creating your own soap bars can be as much fun as giving them away as gifts. You can create bars of soap in various sizes, shapes, colors, and with or without fragrances.
The materials you will need for these special Valentine's Day soap bars are glycerin soap squares, soap coloring and scents, and heart shaped soap molds in various sizes. You can find everything you need at your local craft store.
To begin your project, make sure that your work area is clean and dry. Place the glycerin soap squares into a microwaveable bowl and microwave for forty seconds or until completely melted. Add a few drops of the color and fragrance of your choice and stir until mixed completely. Pour the mix into the soap mold and allow to set for at least thirty minutes. Once it has hardened, pop the heart shaped soap bar out of the mold and your craft is finished.
If you purchased a variety of sizes of heart shaped soap molds, you might want to fill each mold with the melted soap squares mixture before adding any color. This will allow you to make soap of different colors at the same time. If you are going to have a different fragrance for each color then you might also want to wait to add the fragrance until after you have filled the molds and then add the color and fragrance at the same time.
To create a gift basket to hold these bars of soaps, line the inside of a small wicker basket with red, pink, and white tissue paper, and then place the bars into the basket. The woman or women in your life will love receiving this special Valentine's Day gift.
You can use the same recipe to create custom made soap bars for different occasions. For Christmas, purchase different sizes of soap molds in shapes of Christmas trees, candy canes, or angels. For Easter you could purchase soap molds in the shape of eggs. A unique way to color Easter egg soaps would be to add two different colors to the mixture and swirl it just enough to make the soap bar look like a tie dye effect.
If women would like to try making soap bars to give to the man or men in their life they could use a football or basketball shaped soap mold and color the soap bars the same as the man or men's favorite sports team. Men probably won't be as excited as women to get a gift like this, but this gift is a unique one that is fun and simple to make. Be creative and have fun.
