Your Slow Running Computer Doesn't Have to Be Slow Anymore
No computer problem is more annoying than having a crash right in the middle of an operation. Second to that would be to have a sluggish or even downright slow computer. If these problems sound at all too familiar to you, you've come to the right place. Lets see if we can determine what the problem with your problem computer is.
Our first area of concern is parasites. Spyware, and to lesser extent adware, can not only cause your computer to misbehave, but they can follow you as you surf the Internet and copy your banking information. Viruses, which are an entirely different thing than spyware can harm your operating system so badly, you will need to do a reformat to use your computer again.
Get Rid of Viruses First
First, Clean Out the Viruses First of all, lets see if there are any viruses present on your hard drive. Run your virus scanner. If it happens you don't have one or you think yours might be sleeping on the job, search one of the search engines for a free virus scan. You will find plenty of offers. Run one of these and see what, if anything turns up. If anything does turn up, and you took the free scan deal, you will have to pay to make the virus scanner yours so you can remove the virus or viruses.
Next, we are going to do a spyware scan. We will do so whether we just removed any viruses or our scanner didn't find any. As in the case of the virus scanner, if you don't have one installed, do a search for a free antispyware scan. Im sure you will find many offers.
Spyware is Priority Number Two
If you have never done a spyware scan before, don't be surprised if you find spyware. This is even if you have been doing regular virus scans. If you have to pay to activate the spyware remover part of the software, it's still a great deal to save your computer and your identity from being stolen. However, one word of caution; don't mess with those tools that advertise themselves as "free spyware cleaners," they are unreliable and may cost you a lot more in the long run.
Were almost there! Next, do a registry scan on your computer. If you don't have a registry cleaner do a Google search for "Windows Registry Cleaner." You will find free scan offers on the page that comes up. Once again, if you need to buy a registry cleaner don't hesitate. Just don't fool around with anything that refers to itself as a "Free Registry Cleaner," they will do more harm than good!
Registry Corruption is not as Evil as Spyware but it Can Damage Your OS
Registry corruption can get in the way of an operating system so much it can make the OS incapable of loading into the hard drive at startup. This means it is just about impossible to keep a computer running at full tilt without having a registry cleaner installed on a computer these days. While this may not have been the case a few years ago, it is today because Windows XP and Vista are so much more easily corrupted.
Doing the things outlined in this article have helped many computer owners get their computer going full speed and error free again. If your computer is one of the rare ones that was not helped by this procedure, at least take heart in knowing everything you did bodes well for your computers health in the long run.
If the computer is still slow, the only other problems you could possibly have would be internal hardware problems or you have a resources eating program running in the background. Open up your task manager and see what is running you may not be aware of.
