How to Repair RC Toys
RC Toys are prone to break and damage, especially the toy-grade one. The best that we can do is to have a little knowledge as to how to repair our purchased RC Toys. Maybe for warranty purposes you can contact your toy manufacturer for replacement. They might accept replacing those parts that break or wear out easily. If this option is not available, the following steps can be possible before you finally decide to trash your toy.
The first that you can do is to try replacing the set of batteries and see to it that both the RC and the transmitter are working properly. If you are sure that your controller is defective, you can try buying for another similar RC toy at your local thrift store. Their controllers will normally work out with your RC toy as long as they are using the same frequency. Checking your RCs transmitter is the best next step that you can do. Always see to it that both parts receive the same frequency. Replacing lost transmitter will also do, by buying a similar RC toy at your local thrift store. Normally their controller will work out fine with your RC toy as long as they have the same frequency.
Check if some foreign object like water, dirt, or mud are present on your toy by taking the casing apart. If you see some dusty part, try cleaning it with a canned air to blow the dust off away carefully. You can also carefully wipe off some dirt and water using a microfiber cloth. However, if there is too much water, you can try drying it off under the sun or use a hair dryer.
If the steps above still do not work out, you can try look for some loose wiring, broken parts or gears. Maybe you can try using a magnifier to see loose parts and try fixing them with a tape or glue.
If all of the steps above is not working and found your RCs internal components beyond salvaging, but the body still looking good, you can try upgrading your toy RC with a Hobby-grade parts. This can be a little costly for it comes with servos, receiver, and other parts. However, if you do not have any idea of these options, it might be better for you to purchase a completely new RC toy. You might want to invest in a more quality model this time that has spare parts available, as you will save money in the long run.
