MLS Tickets - Dynamo 3, Toronto FC 0
The Huston Dynamo continue to cruise through the competition. They racked up three goals in a five-minute span of the first half and defeated the Toronto FC 3-0 last week, extending their unbeaten streak to seven games. Dynamo coach Dominic Kinnear was excited over the win. He said his club came out with a great attitude and played excellent soccer in the first half while remaining efficient in the second. Huston (5-2-3) took an early 1-0 lead after Brad Davis scored a goal in the 20th minute. Davis surprised Toronto goalkeeper Stefan Frei when he drilled the ball from about 20 yards out on the right side on a direct kick, sending the ball through the Toronto wall and into the middle of the net. Two minutes later, Brian Chin set up Kei Kamara, who deflected the pass just inside the left post to make it 2-0. Two minutes later, Davis sent a free kick to Stuart Holden, who hammered a bouncer under the Toronto wall and scored inside the left post. Davis said they practiced the play many times. He has a league - high seven assists, registering at least one in a team-record six straight match. Davis added that most opponents believe he will nail the ball, but instead, he found a perfect spot where Holden waited for the ball and found the back of the net. Toronto (4-4-4) entered the competition with only one loss in its past six games but came out flat against Huston.
Toronto interim coach Chris Cummings admitted his team played poor. Their game plan had been to slow the Dynamo offense by preventing cross passes and set plays. However, that plan failed when Huston scored two of its three goals on the set plays and the third on a cross. Toronto midfielder Dwayne De Rosario told the press they knew Dynamo's game plan, and they capitalized on it. The former Dynamo player also added that after being down 3-0 it is difficult to come back into the game, especially against a team like Huston.
After beating New England 3-1 last week, most would have believed Toronto would have been better prepared against Huston. Instead, the Canadian team displayed a lack of attitude and enthusiasm throughout the match. They were playing for pride in the second half, but it wasn't enough to come back into the game. The Dynamo improved to 5-0-2 in its last seven games. They have been an offensive power house by scoring six goals in the last two games. Keep in mind, the Dynamo scored eight goals in their first eight matches, so they have definitely turned it up a notch in the past couple of games. Kinnear said when you don't score people ask what's wrong and when you do score people ask what's right. The soccer player continued to say when you have good players on the ball, good things happen.
