Things To Do In Marina del Rey That Won't Break The Bank

When you're looking for aquatic marine entertainment or a day on the water, Marina del Rey is a terrific weeklong or weekend vacation getaway. Located just west of Los Angeles along the Pacific Coast, a trip to this wonderful location can take you to the gorgeous Catalina Island or to the eclectic Venice Beach areas.

Marinas And Outdoor Recreation

By visiting the many available boat rentals, you may rent a powerboat, sailboat, or kayak by the hour, half-day, or full day on a California beach. The UCLA Marine Aquatic Center offers kayak rides, paddle rides at sunset, bird watching kayak tours, and marine-life kayak tours. If you fancy fishing, Marina del Rey Sportsfishing offers morning and evening sports fishing tours to catch sea bass, halibut, and yellowtail bass.

At the Catalina-Marina del Rey Flyer, you may purchase tickets for a ride on a high-speed catamaran to take you to Catalina Island for the day. You may also take your sweetheart on a romantic gondola ride on a 32-foot Italian gondola at Gondola D'Amore off the shores of a California beach.

Shopping

At Marina del Rey or within a short distance away, you can experience many beautiful boutiques and other unique shopping opportunities or events. The Villa Marina Marketplace offers more than 60 different stores, restaurants, special events, and movie theaters. Villa Marina Marketplace is the largest shopping center in the surrounding area.

Waterside at Marina del Rey typically offers live music while you shop on some weekends. Waterside offers places to shop for clothing, jewelry, and other accessories.

Shopping at the festival boutiques along Venice Beach, a California beach just a short distance from Marina del Rey, is one of the most fun free things to do near this family-friendly location. In addition to the boutiques, people set up small shopping tents for Venice Beach visitors to purchase anything from T-shirts to handmade necklaces. Many people bring their pets and rollerblades to the festival that is Venice Beach, so you may find a special treat for your dog while visiting this area. Venice Beach is typically full of street musicians, vendors, artists, events, and visitors from around the world. As you can see, there are plenty of free things to do in this festival area.

Main Street offers shops that really shouldn't be missed. Along Main Street, you may find surf clothes and unique jewelry, crazy hats, and Mexican artwork. Main Street is always crowded with shoppers looking for a unique experience. People watching is one of the entertaining and free things to do here.

Dining

Marina del Rey offers dining experiences for just about anyone's taste buds. If you are looking for a relaxed dining experienced, Tony P's Dockside Grill & Tavern, is a terrific place to watch sports games on big-screen TV's and enjoy a beer or two. If you're looking for something a bit more upscale, Glow is a popular outdoor lounge with live music and outdoor dining areas year round.

If you seek a taste of exotic food, the Warehouse Restaurant along the harbor offers live music and salsa dancing. Every Friday, the Warehouse Restaurant offers salsa dance lessons. Every Saturday, the restaurant offers live jazz music.
