Tips on Writing Great Google and Yahoo PPC Text Ads

Pay-per-click (PPC) ads are an excellent way to promote a business online. They are easily traceable so you can see what effective ways of advertising in your market are. Writing noticeable PPC text ads is a whole art form in itself, but there are some simple tips that will help boost your ads click-through rate (CTR).

Everyone loves getting a bargain. If the price of the item you are selling is highly competitive to others in your market, use it in your ad as a benefit. Selling the benefits of your business or product, whether it is price or convenience or usability, will increase your CTR as well as giving customers a positive feature to remember you by. Comparing your product to similar products can also help it stand out in people's minds as superior. Always capitalize everything but the common words in your advertisement. Doing so can increase your CTR by as much as eighty percent.

Putting an endorsement or testimonial in your ad can be a huge selling point. An ad boasting "As seen on Oprah" would get far more CTR than "As seen on TV". "Would you like to make ten thousand dollars a month?" Questions can stimulate people's curiosity. Make them want to find out more. Using three dots at the end of your ad also indicates that you have more to tell them. In order to convey urgency to your potential customer, use 'time' keywords such as 'now', 'today', 'urgent', or 'for a limited time only'. "How to" is another strategic phrase that will increase your CTR.

Using powerful and targeted keywords and phrases is the most important way to boost your advertising effectiveness. Eye-catching words like 'astonishing', 'unique', 'innovative', 'incredible', 'secret', 'exposed', 'shocking', 'super', 'free', 'sale', 'special-offer', and 'proven' are a great way to grab people's attention and interest, boosting your CTR. If you can, remove as many common words as possible without jeopardizing the readability of your ad to make every word count.

PPC ads are rather like a drink mix. They are small and highly concentrated, but promise a lot in terms of flavor. By making sure your advertisement is attention-grabbing and uses every word within it to the maximum advantage you can ensure that PPC advertising will effectively work for your business.

If you still don't know what to put in your PPC ad, then look at your competitors ads, look at ppc ads in other topics, look at mortgage and finance ads. Businesses that pay more than $5 a click can't afford to write low click though PPC ads.
