Logo- The history
"Logo" is word that can only be traced back from the ancient Greece time; normally it was used as a form of code symbolically to stand for the initials of the name it was design for. However in ancient Greek and Roman Empire it commonly used as monograms on coins to signify the greatness of their reign. Nowadays the name "Custom Logo Design" is a familiar name to most of us, owing greatly to the past.
It was in the thirteenth century when the concepts of logo designs were developed from mere ciphers to the unique trademarks for the transaction of the products of assorted traders and organizations.

One man is credited for the evolution of logo design that is, Marcus Samuel, he had a business in London for a long time and after years in the business he started recording innumerable success yet he had only started the business with products ranging from oil, kerosene, and some point jewels. In no time he had established his business entity worldwide. In the year 1897 he named his business a unique name, which was Shell (yes, the same one we all know today). A diagrammatic representation symbolized the entire company and thus becoming the company "logo" or in other words its trademark.
With time a logo started to actually mean a lot to a company, for instance in the same period a new logo design was introduced, commonly known as "Rock of Gibraltar", to represent the Prudential Financial Corporation. It did this so well that the symbol became something that people could associate with. Moreover the logo representing "Rock of Gibraltar" assured commitment and security, this was really essential for the company for it to prosper to greater heights.
This story is an ideal example to tell how an appropriate graphical image was sufficient to communicate with a larger section of people during 17th and 18th century.
This simple concept is far more effective in today's competitive world. Now-a-days, in the market segments containing fierce competition a brand identifying logo is inevitable.
