Movie Review Of The Game Re-Release In High Definition

The Game is one of those decadent thrillers that only comes along once in awhile. It is also one of those older movies they are rereleasing in high definition. The plot and video is really worth the second release, but whether you have seen it or not, the high definition is a must. This movie was one that made obvious the need for a home theater.

We begin in San Francisco, CA where a wealthy investment banker named Nicholas Van Orton sits alone in his mansion with his booze watching the news and being overly depressed. His only talent is the buying and selling of money and he has become bored with being a dull unimportant man. He has left no mark on the world. Enter his brother Conrad who, much to his surprise, brings Nicholas a birthday gift. This gift arrives on his 48th birthday, which is special because it is the same year that their father leapt from a roof, ending his life.

Nicholas receives a card telling him to call Consumer Recreation Services, an invisible company stored inside a shady looking metal and glass building. The company stages games that interfere with the life of their client so that one cannot tell the game from real life. The games are traumatizing and would likely cause a lawsuit in reality, but this is a movie. Strategy is needed to play the game and you are drawn into it whether or not you wish to play.

The relationships and situations this game sets up are far from Nicholas's ordinary life and they provide him excitement. This is what the service is for after all. He climbs elevator shafts and gets in a relationship with a strange waitress. This is nothing he would consider doing otherwise. He does not seem to know the game is actually going, but instead he seems to think his life is just tanking.

The darkness, splashes of light, shadows, and sensual scenes are all best seen in high definition, and even if you have seen the movie, you will find yourself holding the edge of your couch. Who knew a little home theater and a movie on a second release could provide you with such a wild ride? While we are not dealing with realistic situations, you will find that you dread right along with him. Why would you not with that high definition sound playing suspenseful music in your ear for two hours.
