Rating Payment Processors For Online Poker

Payment processors are an important part of the online poker experience because so many of them are involved in making transfers back and forth between the online poker world and the world in which most people live. When you are searching for a good payment processor however, there are certain things that you might want to keep in mind. These are meant as guidelines and suggestions only however, so do not take them as the absolute gospel.

Fees are an important aspect to look at when it comes to payment processors. When you are using a payment processor primarily for the purposes of online poker, there are going to be two primary transactions and one secondary transaction that you want to check the fees on. The two primary transactions are the transfer of money to an online gambling site and the transfer of money from an online gambling site to a payment processor. The secondary transaction is transfer of money from a bank account or credit card to the payment processor account. If the fees are reasonable (or even non-existent) on those forms of transaction, you can be assured that the overwhelming supermajority of the transactions that you do with that payment processor for the purposes of online poker will not carry exorbitant fees.

Another aspect of payment processors for online poker that you will want to take a look at is the speed at which transactions take place. Generally speaking, the transaction going forward (i.e. from the payment processor to the online poker site) is the more important one, because speed on the reverse transaction from the site to the processor is usually governed by how quickly the online poker site is able to do things. Many of the best payment processors have an instant speed for a deposit because of their high credit rating and of course just about any processor worth its salt will be able to get the funds into the poker account within 24 hours (or at the very least 1 business day). Any processor that is unable to do it at that speed should have a very good reason for doing so and make up for slow speed in other areas to be considered viable for someone that has payment choices.

Fees and speed are the two most obvious concerns when it comes to rating payment processors for online poker, but there are other concerns that exist as well. These concerns include, but are not limited to the reputation of the payment processor, the number of poker sites that you want to play at that have accounts with them and the presence of any promotions that might be tied to the payment processor.
