The Right Outdoor Lights Will Help You Have Fun In The Dark

Camping and other outdoor activities can be great fun for the whole family but without the proper lighting, the experience can be dangerous. A camping area in the dark can be hard to maneuver around causing you to trip over rocks and branches. Small insects and pests may also be lurking around and can even get into your sleeping bag and tent. To offer you protection your camping gear should include a variety of lighting sources to keep you seeing clearly in the dark.

While you could solve the problem by setting a fire, fires may pose a threat to your entire family while not even giving adequate lighting. You could use flashlights that do give off enough light and are fairly safe but they can be hard to find in a hurry. If you want to use a flashlight then get a glow in the dark one because these are easy to find and use. You could also have a headlamp that will allow you more freedom. There is more to lighting though than just illuminating your tent.

Lanterns are great for lighting up the great outdoors because they tend to give off a very strong bright light. Fuel-burning lanterns are great and do give off enough light for a campsite, though they do have some serious issues. One of which is the obvious, and the other is the fact that fuel costs can add up. If you want to be economical then get a lantern that utilizes the same fuel that you use to heat your home, that way you don't have to buy two different types of fuel. You also need to help in mind that the fuel can quickly weigh down your backpack.

Electric lanterns are another option to consider and are the lantern of choice for many experienced campers. They offer the same bright lighting source as fuel-burning lanterns but are more convenient since fuel is not needed and there is no smell when using them. For a longer battery life, try a LED lantern. Some versions of LED lanterns can light up the night for several days on a single charge. Those with a crank are worth considering for those who do not mind a little physical labor or want an environmentally friendly lighting source. Typically each crank on these rechargeable lanterns offers only a few minutes of light, so multiple cranks are needed to get enough light for the entire night.

Solar powered flashlights and lanterns are also becoming a great addition to camping gear. Since they only use solar power these lighting sources are less expensive as batteries are not needed. Simply let them charge up during the daytime and turn them on after dark.

Whatever your needs are there is an outdoor lighting source that will make the perfect compliment to your camping area. Compare the options and purchase enough lights to make your camping, boating, canoeing or mountain climbing trip a fun and enjoyable experience during daytime or nighttime.
