San Francisco 49ers Tickets- Confident in Current QBs
San Francisco 49ers general manager Scott McCloughan publicly stated last week on Sirius NFL Radio that his team is not interested in Michael Vick. The 49ers have been speculated as the number one destination for Vick once he was released from federal prison. However, once McCloughan and head coach Mike Singletary sat down for a one on one discussion about the suspended star, they quickly realized he wasn't the right fit for their organization. The Niners seem confident they can get the job done with quarterback Shaun Hill or Alex Smith. Although they are not mainstream names in NFL circles, Singletary and his staff had the entire offseason to evaluate both men and must like what they see. Get San Francisco 49ers ticketsm and see the 49ers kick off their season.
Some 49ers fans might be thinking that McCloughan and Singletary are nuts for not taking a chance on Vick, but we are not in the meeting rooms, and we don't understand what the 49ers organization are looking for from their quarterback. Singletary and his staff saw something in minicamp that makes them want to watch Smith and Hill duke it out for the number one position come opening day. By rejecting Vick, San Francisco is telling everyone they have a firm grasp on the quarterback position. They might not be ready to announce the starting quarterback, but they do believe that either Smith or Hill will be the leader of the team by mid-August.
Can Smith or Hill get through the season and be competitive in the NFC West? San Francisco fans are hoping they can, especially since the Bay Area is so use to those glory days of Montana and Young leading the pack in the playoffs and have won championships for their organization. Many Michael Vick fans are now scratching their heads and are wondering what is the next move for the former prisoner; So far, there hasn't been an NFL team in desperate need of a quarterback heading into training camp, especially one who has missed the past two NFL seasons. One team that might be interested in Michael is the St. Louis Rams, but the chances of Vick walking into training camp this summer as the starter is slim to none.
If Michael returns to the NFL as an athlete fighting for a roster spot, a few teams might take a risk on the suspended player, but teams must admit he is not coming to training camp as a complete QB. On the contrary, Michael is battling for playing time on the offense in certain packages that will allow him to get the ball. The Niners have stated they are closing the door on Vick, but that does not mean another NFL team will not open the door and invite the electrifying athlete inside their organization. Although nobody knows where Michael's next destination will be, once NFL commissioner Roger Goodell reinstates him, many expect Vick to be picked up fairly quickly. One thing is for certain, the team that decides to take Vick underneath their wing will dive head first into a PR storm.
