Use Space Heaters To Save Energy

When it comes to things like using space heaters as a heating resource, you will need to consider a few things. You will not only want to make sure that you use proper safety procedures with the space heater, but that you also take inconsideration that you will not want to have the furnace running so much so that you can use electric heat to help get the chill of some of the bathrooms and laundry rooms in your home. You will also want to have some space heaters in these rooms so that you can avoid having issues with pipes cracking, freezing, and leaking.

The first thing that you will want to do is turn your thermostat down to about 65* and even 62 for times when you aren't home. Your home will be on the chilly side, however, you will want to place a space heater in some of the rooms of the home so that you can keep yourself comfortable with the slightly c older temperatures. Sometimes it really doesn't matter what temperature that you set, your house may be a naturally drafty place. You will want to place the space heater in the middle of the house down stairs, because you will be able to keep the entire down stairs comfortably. You will also want to go and place one in the laundry room (unless it is in the basement) and in the bathrooms (especially if the pipes are not on the inside of the home or if they are not near the chimney). This way you will be able to avoid things like your pipes breaking.

Secondly, you will want to learn how to properly use the space heater. Basically, you will want to make sure that you use the space heater only when someone is home or even if you are in that room. First, you will be able to save energy and avoid wasting energy, but you will also be able to keep a close eye on the space heater, since they tend to be a reason why some houses will burn down. The reason they cause fires is because something will fall on the coils or it will be placed too close to things like furniture or even the walls. These heat up very quickly and can be very hot. You will also want to make sure that none of the children in the house touches the space heaters, because it can hurt them.

You will want to make sure that you never leave the heaters on while you are away, because it could start a fire and you could end up losing a lot of prize possessions. You will also want to take inconsideration that at night, you may want to turn the heat up and then turn the heat down before you leave, because the space heaters should not be on during the night, unless it is your bedroom.
