Facts About True Blood Seasons 1 and 2
True Blood is a drama series that is based in Louisiana, United States and produced by Alan Ball. The series is taken from the Sookie Stackhouse series of books, which is also known as The Southern Vampire Mysteries that were written by the highly popular Charlaine Harris.
The series is currently being shown on Home Box Office (HBO) the cable network. It was produced in part by HBO and in part by Alan Ball who up till now was better known for writing the hit movie American Beauty and for producing the HBO series Six Feet Under.
Ball has obviously gained a lot of recognition for his work and among the awards he has received are an Academy Award, an Emmy, a BAFTA and a Golden Globe, all for the aforementioned movie and series.
The initial showing of True Blood took place on the 7th September 2008 and Season 2 began on the 14th June 2009. Viewers have a total of 12 episodes of Season 2 to look forward to and then a further Season 3 will begin to be filmed before Christmas of this year, just to make fans even more ecstatic.
The story of True Blood features the co-existence of both humans and vampires in a small town in Louisiana known as Bon Temps, albeit Bon Temps is actually fictional, as are the vampires, I think.
The main plot behind both the books and the True Blood movie is based on Sookie Stackhouse, played by the actress Anna Paquin. Anna Paquin claimed fame back in 1994 when she was awarded an Academy Award for best supporting actress in the film The Piano.
She characterizes a telepathic waitress who meets and falls love with the vampire Bill Compton, played by actor Stephen Moyer. She finds that she is unable to read his mind, which certainly makes him stand out from the crowd for her.
The series soon gained popularity and won a Golden Globe amongst others. Alan Ball, the series creator, previously worked on the hit series known as Six Feet Under, the finale of which was in October 2005. Ball then signed a two year contract with HBO and hence True Blood was borne.
On a day wile waiting for a dental appointment, Mr Ball decided to go into his local Barnes and Noble book store where he came across Charlaine Harris latest novel - Dead Until Dark which is the initial book of The Sookie Stackhouse Series.
Mr Ball was so taken by the book that he approached Ms Harris with the idea of turning the book into a television drama. By this time Charlaine Harris had had proposals from others to do something similar but she went with Ball because she liked his vision with her book.
