Hostgator Review.
Most people have heard of Hostgator and with good reason because these guys are undoubtedly one of the largest web hosting companies in the world. At last count they had somewhere just over 2m domains under their control and are continuing to grow. It is all very impressive for a company that was started in just 2002.
Whilst this is all well and good from their customers there are more important things to consider. It is a budget hosting company with an excellent price structure. The most basic accounts start at $3.95 a month going up to 412.95 for a business account.
Even at these exceptionally low prices the account are all unlimited. Customers can host as many domains as they want as well as use as much bandwidth and diskspace as they need for their purposes. The domains are accessible via FTP and Cpanel and come with technologies such as Perl, MySQL and SSH to name a few.
Now, all this stuff is great, but for me there are 2 things that make Hostgator really stand out.
The first is the high level of service, even though the accounts are shared the server speeds are very good and I can get through to the support team quickly, either by the chat function, phone or email.
There is no long term contract to sign. That means that when you open an account it can be canceled at any time. They are even prepared to give your money back up to 45 days after you have signed on if for some reason you do not want to continue with their service.
Second is that Hostgator are a green company. I am very environmentally minded and it was great to hear that they use the most efficient servers possible and that those servers are powered completely by renewable wind energy.
It's great for me to be able to use a good solid web hosting company that is also committed to the environment and to helping protect our planet. For these reasons, I feel happy to recommend Hostgator.
