Customize The Voice For Your GPS
GPS can be a great form of navigation but some people get absolutely tired of the voice that comes with it if they use it all the time. Others joke that as much as they listened to it they should at least take the GPS in with them to destinations on their vacation or other travels. There are always advances out there to help you get the most from GPS and one of them that is fairly new is customizing the voice.
In many ways this is a convenience for people. While you can already get them in different languages, you can also choose one with a particular accent. It can make it much easier to understand too if what is standard out there is different from what you are used to hearing.
Many of the newer GPS allow you to plug it into your computer with a USB cable. Then you can access the voice file that is part of it and listen to the different ones. As you find those that interest you it is simple enough to follow the steps to be able to change the voice. Generally they are .vpm files and you will have to install them onto your computer.
If your particular GPS doesnt have such voicing options though you arent stuck with what it came with. You can buy a software program that you install on your computer and follow the instructions. It will take more time and it can be complex depending on the brand and type of GPS you own. However, if you are able to easily navigate your way around a computer then you should be able to figure it all out.
Make sure that you save the voices you want into a file on your computer that way though. This will make it much easier later on when you want to change the voice again. You can just go to that file and pick what you want. It is a great way to customize your GPS and to have some fun with it. While it may seem like a small thing, if you will be listening to that voice all the time you want it to be one you are happy with.
In the future it is believed hat customized voicing for your GPS will get even more advanced. For example you can have your own voice on it, your spouse, and even celebrities that you love. It can be quite fun actually to think about who you would pick for your GPS voice if you had the freedom to do so right now. I am sure many interesting ideas would be expressed if you asked that of a group of people.
