There are millions of people in the world who suffer embarrassment due to bad breath.
It was in actual fact the Romans who discovered that chewing on parsley would disguise the smell of alcohol on their breath. However, they were probably completely unaware of the fact that parsley is high in chlorophyll which turns carbon dioxide into oxygen, making it a natural breath freshener.

However, there are several natural solutions and remedies to cure and treat bad breath.
For those people who suffer with bad breath, the obvious solution is to reach for the mouthwash. However, mouthwash does in actual fact contain flavorings and dyes, but most importantly, the primary component is alcohol. Even though mouthwash does kill bacteria in most cases, it is quick to return because the alcoholic content causes a dry mouth which is the leading cause of bad breath.
If you would like to freshen your breath, then why not prepare your very own mouthwash. A rinse consisting of a few drops of peppermint oil in a glass of water will work nicely; however, don't expect it to kill bacteria. Rinse with this solution, but do not swallow.
Other essential oils such as tea tree, myrrh, spearmint, and ginger are also effective.
Rinsing the mouth with salt water is a great home remedy for a sore throat. However, it also works wonders for eliminating bad breath.
If you wish to use something more pleasant than salt water, then you can rinse with lemon or lime water. Both are equally effective and nicer tasting.
Drinking a small amount of apple cider vinegar in a glass of water on a daily basis will help to eliminate bad breath.
Forget about breath mints and chewing gum. Do you remember the trick that the Greeks used? Anise seed is readily available on the market today and chewing a few of them works just as effectively as they did several thousands of years ago. Fennel, cinnamon, and cloves all work well. Pop a few into your mouth after meals to fight bad breath.
One of the major factors for bad breath is poor dental hygiene. It is important to brush and floss after every meal as well as visit your dentist on a regular basis for a clean and examination.
Eating when you are hungry is extremely important when it comes to bad breath. If you have an empty stomach, your saliva production is reduced, and saliva is required in order to wash away bacteria and avoid a dry mouth.
Drinking plenty of water also keeps your body hydrated which helps to eliminate bad breath.
Drinking cranberry juice or eating cranberries will reduce the possibilities of plaque forming on your teeth. This is because the cranberries reduce the stickiness of the bacteria.
Vitamin C is vital in your diet, as a lack of this can cause the gums to bleed and also manifest as bad breath. Vitamin A is also necessary for the overall health of the gums and teeth.
