How To Use Outbound Telemarketing For Business Success
Outbound Telemarketing, or Telesales, is a method used by companies to promote their services. It works by directly contacting potential clients over the telephone, giving the call operator the chance to promote their sales pitch, before the consumer on the other end can politely object.
All aspects of promotion and sales can be dealt with over the phone at the point of contact and that is what makes the idea of Outbound Telemarketing viable. An entire business can be operated by using telemarketing, for not only is it the initial point where you try to direct sales into the company, but it can be used constantly for follow up inquires, and to find out through surveys usually, what the customer really wants.
From a consumer's point of view, receiving a Telemarketing call is often seen as a nuisance and a hassle. But it is simply a direct sales tactic which engages the consumer by grabbing their immediate attention. Most telemarketing techniques will involve the operator relaying their message in a calm and friendly tone. They need the consumer to stay on the line and not to feel aggravated.
Time of day when calling is important from the telemarketers point of view, as a consumer will feel more put out if they receive a call in the early hours of the morning, or at times during dinner, for example. Keeping the consumer on their side is all important.
Telesales is successful because it can approach people's sense of decorum where they feel wrong not to just swear and hang up the phone if they are annoyed. Listening to a friendly voice on the other end of the line, will usually instill a period of just listening until there is a break in the conversation to just say no.
The wording of the conversation or promotional spiel that is directed towards the consumer is the all important factor. Following a well guided direction for dialogue, the telemarketer will employ techniques which can extract the best response in the most efficient way. Time is money and they make their commission from sales, so answers to all questions need to be at hand immediately. It may only take a quick catchphrase to grab the consumer's attention and lead them deeper into a sale.
As a consumer you could be placed on a list of hot leads for any number of reasons. Any survey you have filled out somewhere, or by a company tracking your shopping habits through store cards, it is possible for you to be likely candidate for a telemarketer to make a sale, without you realizing.
Getting a good return of course, is vital for an telemarketing company's success. There has to a balance between time spent on calls, investing in operators, the number of leads to purchase and how many contacts are made. Without contacts, those people who respond, then there will be no sales. Outbound Telemarketing is a cost effective way to promote sales without the need for salesmen to be traveling around or expensive advertising campaigns.
