How Air Conditioning Can Keep Your Workforce Happy

Look around your office - how many of your staff are sitting comfortably and working hard? Now compare that number to the amount of people who are sat at their desks fanning themselves or looking like they're about to fall asleep from the heat. This isn't a solely summer phenomenon either; winter can be just as bad for employees not feeling up to working because of the temperature, but there is a solution - installing air conditioning in your office.

Air conditioning can work to keep your office warm in the winter and cool in the summer, keeping the temperature at a constant level and hopefully keeping your workforce comfortable. There are numerous different kinds of air conditioner and the kind you install in your office will depend on a few different factors including the layout of the building, the amount of work you or the building owners are willing to commit to, and your budget.

A ducted air conditioning solution is the highest-end unit available and is the most expensive to purchase and most complex to install as the system requires the placing of ducts above the ceiling to carry the air to the diffusers. Though it is a comparatively expensive solution, it offers amongst the best room coverage and also has no visible parts aside from some subtle diffuser units on the ceilings.

If this is either beyond your budget or you or the building owners do not want the upheaval caused by installing ducted air conditioning, another popular solution for offices is the 'cassette' style unit. This system works by being installed in a void part of the ceiling and then spreads air in four directions, typically giving good coverage in office environments. This offers the advantages of taking up no floor or wall space and gives the option of installing several units for large offices. Though not as inconspicuous as the ducted system, many models of cassette air conditioners are still aesthetically unobtrusive and these are more affordable and easier to install.

If ceiling-mounting is not an option for whatever reason, there are also wall-mounted and even floor-mounted solutions available. Ultimately, there is an air conditioner to suit most budgets and building types, meaning that there is a way to keep your staff comfortable in their working environment, hopefully increasing productivity and improving the mood in the office during those hot summer months and the cold winters as well.
