It seems that a number of people, including children, are accidentally shot with guns yearly. What ever the exact number, it is too many and in most instances could have been prevented if the gun owner would have taken Ohio CCW training classes and adhered to them.

While new gun owners may not know or understand the safety rules and training, the seasoned shooter needs to refresh the memory on a routine basis. Many times isolated lessons can simply leave our minds over time, making it imperative that gun owners breathe new life into these important rules.

These instances could all have been prevented through proper training and safety classes. Ohio CCW training attempts to educate anyone that is interested in knowing these and other rules and regulations surrounding gun ownership.

People must realize that if they are unsure about how to safely handle a firearm, whether it is theirs or one they found, it should be left alone. Even the gun's safety mechanism is not full proof and further steps must be taken to assure the safety of those around a gun or firearm.

Common sense tells anyone that alcohol use and/ or over the counter medications should be avoided prior to or during gun use or handling of any kind. However, other safety issues are not as obvious.

For instance, maintaining a clean gun is a must for it to operate correctly but how to clean a gun in the correct manner can be just as serious. Ohio CCW training teaches students how to safely clean a gun without risk of injury to self or others. In addition, one needs to understand the basic parts of the gun, how to open and close the action, remove the ammunition and operate the gun, prior to handling or shooting the devise. Safety is always the first concern when around guns.

Ultimately, safety is the gun owners' responsibility. He or she must be able to protect himself and those around him from possible injury or danger. Without proper and complete knowledge of gun safety, dangerous situations will abound.

This is why Ohio CCW training encourages all gun owners to sign up for and complete safety and training classes prior to operating or handling their gun.
