Today, people spend more time reading their emails every day than they do other things. Businesses also cannot survive without emails. Now, almost every company uses emails to do business. Therefore, I am sure to say that email marketing is the most powerful marketing tool for us now.

For email marketing to be effective, you must build your own list. A list of opt-in subscribers is your asset and is something that you must do if you want to grow your business. When you have a list of loyal subscribers, it means that you have readership and you can drive traffic and sales on demand.

When you have your own list, the next step is to come up with email campaigns and follow-up emails to build relationship with your subscribers. When you are developing your email campaigns, make sure that you do not make every email a sales pitch. You must offer good content, advice and even give free gifts every now and then to your subscribers so as to develop a strong relationship with them.

In this article, let me share with you some secrets to email marketing success:

1. Write a subject line that can capture attention. The subject line of your email is the most important element that determines whether your email gets read by your subscribers. Therefore, you need a subject line that can capture the attention of your subscribers so that they will open your email immediately and read it. The best subject lines are those which can generate curiosity.

2. Do not use words that will get your emails into the junk box. Many emails get labeled as spam because the senders use the wrong words. Avoid using words like "free", "make money", "get rich" in your subject line. These words will most probably trigger the spam filter to label your emails as spam.

3. Do not hard sell in your email. Instead, use your email to highlight the problem and place strong call-to-action statements to entice your subscribers to visit your website to find out more about your product or service.

4. Always use subscriber name in the emails. By keeping your emails personal, you will build a stronger relationship with your subscribers.

5. Ensure that you use proper formatting. Break down large chunks of text into paragraphs so that readers can read your email easily.

6. Focus on your readers. Highlight "What is in it for them" in the emails. Do not always talk about yourself or your company.

7. Create a sense of urgency. Give time-sensitive offer to your readers without being pushy.
