Increase Your Telephone Inquiries With An 0844 Number

By Anna Stenning

With the economy being the way it is at the moment, people are more conscious of spending money than they have been in a long time, and this even extends to our telephone bills. With money not stretching as far as it previously has, people are far less likely to make an enquiring telephone call at national rate, meaning that your expensive advertising campaign could well be a wasted effort, but there is a solution.

Acquiring an 0844 number for your call centre or office is an excellent way to encourage people to make that call after seeing or hearing your advertisement as it is a geographically independent number, meaning that callers will pay the same amount per minute wherever in the country they are calling from, often as low as five pence, making it far more likely that they will call you and hopefully take up the service you offer or purchase your product.

Introduced in tandem with the 0845 number as part of BT's lo-call scheme which assigned local call costs to these calling codes, the 0844 number can be an ideal way to ensure that potential customers are less wary of the costs of contacting your business, especially with BT offering free calls to these numbers with selected calling packages.

A geographically independent number also has the advantage of meaning that your business's location is not immediately obvious, enabling you to give the impression that you are providing a service locally in your advertising campaign, again making it more likely that people will contact your call centre, either to make a purchase or a booking, or at least an enquiry which can hopefully lead to a purchase or booking.

Available for a very reasonable cost, an 0844 number or two for your business lines is a worthwhile investment, especially if your call centre is the first point of contact for your customers, both current and potential. As well as making the cost of contacting you less prohibitive, these numbers also mean that your company or call centre will pay no charges on inbound calls, saving you money while hopefully making your company money in the process.

With the impending changes to the facilities offered by 0870 numbers, many businesses are switching themselves 0844 to retain features like voice to email and online statistics; coupled with the cost advantages to both customers and your business, now is an excellent time to switch your business or call centre to an 0844 number.
