Lose Weight Fast By The Numbers

By Jose Hunter
Jul 1, 2009
To lose weight fast is the desire of everyone who has ever dieted. You want results now, but often this simple procedure becomes a difficult undertaking. The scale doesn't move fast enough in the right direction so you become disheartened and start sliding in the process even as you cry that the diet doesn't work! Tenacity in dieting is an admirable trait since the fluctuation of daily weighing is disheartening. The fastest way to lose weight is still using simple math, so grab a notebook and get ready for the weeks ahead. Yes, weeks is correct. That's about as fast as you can hope for and still be healthy. Crash diets are dangerous and not recommended.

One of things you have to figure out is what your weight goals are. Write down what you weigh and how much weight you realistically want to lose. After that, you have to figure out how many calories you are taking in during the average day. Sometimes we think that we have a grasp on what amount of food we take in every day but I suggest writing these down so you can keep track of the numbers.

You must be consistent and write down all the food you are consuming. This notebook will be your record so that at some point, you can go back and modify the amount of calories your eating if you have to. You don't want to go overboard with the amount of weight to lose. Keep an obtainable goal at first such as losing 10 pounds in 10 weeks. What this will do is setup the baby step approach so that we don't get easily frustrated.

Everyone forgets the little nibbles or taste tests that takes place everyday. That little extra pat of butter on a small piece of bread consumed as we wait for the grilled cheese to brown or that extra mayo on the sandwich just escapes your memory. Discipline yourself to keep an accurate account of every morsel. All those calories count and must be put in your journal. Silly? Not really, because you are doing fast weight loss by the numbers and every calorie counts.

The numbers will guide you to the answers about your weight. Determine how many calories you need to support life, your BMR, and determine how many pounds you have decided to lose. Use charts on the Internet or in books to find your correct number. Losing about 10% of you current weight is very beneficial. Remember that it takes 3500 calories burned or not consumed to lose 1 pound.

By knowing this number, you can substract for example, 250 calories a day and lose half pound a week. This is only if you just cut out a few hundred calories a day. Remember that a pound has 3500 calories and that's why it's only half pound.

If you increase your activity to include walking or jogging, you will burn more calories. By burning 500 calories per workout, 5 days a week, that's another 2500 calories. This totals 4250 calories off per week. That's an easy way to lose weight fast.

The more calories you burn the less goes into fat storage. Losing weight fast by using this simple math formula is really a great way to understand where your calories go. Make them go into energy and keep it simple.
