What Size Of Package Can A Bike Messenger Carry?
When a St. Louis courier service makes you aware of the services they offer, you might be surprised to see that they have a bike messenger option available to you. Many of us who think of courier companies only think about the traditional delivery vans or small cars taking packages around a city or the State, or some might even think about large shipping companies which are moving gigantic freight trailers across the country.
Some of us automatically think of a bike messenger service as a different type of company altogether, but the truth is that many of these companies are integrated with each other, and you can find many courier services which offer a bike messenger service. However, the entire reason that a courier company will have all these different types and sizes of vehicles is so that they can all carry the package which is most appropriately sized to the correct vehicle, which leads to the question of how large of packages should be sent with bike messengers.
The reason for this is that there are obvious physical limitations to carrying an actual package of any kind on a bicycle. Packages which weigh more than five kilograms are generally not only considered to be too difficult for a bike messenger to carry, but also too dangerous, as the heavier the package they carry the more risk they put themselves at. That is why they typically regulate the packages by the weight before they will allow a bike courier to carry them.
There are also size limitations, although it is fair to say that these are mostly common sense guidelines in many cases rather than rules imposed for safety. Large and awkward packages might weigh less than five kilograms but can be extremely large which would also be unsafe and clumsy for the bike messenger to carry.
You should just rely mostly on your basic reasoning in order to decide what packages to try and send only small and easy packages for them to carry. Things like small packages and envelopes are the bread and butter of the bike messenger, especially when just being delivered from business to business within the downtown core of a major city. If you have this type of a package to send, using a bike messenger can not only be the quickest way to get your package away, but also the cheapest method for sending it.
