The New LG enV3 Cell Phone Review

By Denzel Reynold
Jul 2, 2009
The LG enV3 cell phone is a powerful update to the very popular LG enV series. The only question in if it's the best compact QWERTY phone on the market.

The features on the enV3 look really good. It has a Stereo capable Bluetooth and MicroSD memory port. The inside of the clam boast a very impressive 2.6" screen and a QWERTY keyboard and the phone now has a 3.0MP camera with flash and a camcorder.

The great thing about the number pad is that it's huge and that makes it very easy to dial. The same applies to the QWERTY board on the inside, the keys are large and widely spaces that gives you great speed when texting.

The flash on the 3.0 Mega pixel camera helps you takes great pictures, even when there is little light, small detail that does a lot for this phone. The camera however is only mediocre. If you are a real camera fan then you are better off with the LG enV Touch.

The phone uses the VZ Navigator for turn-by-turn directions. It's easy to use and the menu is simple, once you have put in your destination and initiated a session you can simply close the shell and use the directions on the front screen telling you when to turn as well as the street names. The phone seems to track with ease and had no problems finding me fast.

Even though texting is becoming more and more popular you should always demand good calling quality when buying phones. The enV3 certainly delivers in that department. The reception of the phone is good and the quality of the sound was excellent. All the call features on the phone are also a nice bonus.

The multimedia features of the enV3 are very nice. The sound quality of the music speakers are an excellent addition to the very impressive music player. It also has access to the Verizon Wireless V Cast Music Store. There is also a video player that was quite impressive.

I was not fully satisfied with the browsing as the phone has a scaled-down versions of the Obigio Web browser that is in the LG enV Touch. It was quite ok but somehow it did not feel like a complete HTML browser.

You can get the LG enV3 for around $50-80 in most online stores with a Verizon Wireless contract. I did search for the best deal i could find (01.07.09) and included a link at the end of this article to that deal.

In general the design is very elegant and simple. The internal screen is great as well as the keyboard. This phone is an improvement in every way over it's predecessor (especially in call quality and e-mail features)

If I had to point to some disappointments with this phone I would mention that the messaging applications should have gotten a little more work. The web browsing and camera quality were a little bit disappointing. The small external screen is very good but they could have made it much cooler.
