Romancing Your Girl - 3 Tips To Learn The Art Of Romance

By Marc Sandford

There are lots of definitions for romance, but the best ones refer to a feeling of excitement associated with love. This excitement can be very intense or playful. If you are a natural romantic, you have it within you to keep your relationship alive for a very long time. If you aren't, it can be learned. Get started with these three tips:

1.) Go and do something totally unexpected. Women like being surprised. The thing about surprises is that you are going to do something that you ordinarily wouldn't do.

It could entail getting out of your zone of comfort a bit. So if you're the homebody type then try spending the evening (or weekend) on a well planned romantic outing. Advance planning is very important because without one, you'll just rely on the same old routines.

Doing the same old routine isn't the definition of a surprise. There's nothing less romantic than saying: "So, want do you want to do now?"

If you're the matter-of-fact, practical type, this can be very difficult to do. However, you have a major advantage over the experienced romantics: any romantic gesture coming from you will be huge to her because it's the last thing that she's expecting from you. The element of surprise is working for you.

2.) Sometimes guys will resume their bachelor ways when they become overly familiar with their partner. A habit that annoys most women is not leaving the toilet seat down. Another is treating her too casually as if she were one of their guy buddies. Never forget that she is a woman who wants to be treated as such.

3.) When you and your partner are having a disagreement, avoid using the words "never" and "always". Most people like to use those two words when they are angry to reinforce their point of view even though it isn't true.

This is human nature and it is also human nature to feel very hurt and wronged when this exaggeration is used. None of us ever just "always" does something or "never" does another thing.

If you're just starting to give this romance "stuff" a try, remember that the more silly or impractical the gesture, the more romantic. Expressing romance in conventional ways definitely works and always will. But you ought to try to put some creativity into it. You'll discover that that is when it becomes a lot of fun.
