Do You Want To Know The Best Way To Learn Italian ?
In the United States there are many people that have an Italian heritage. In many cases they identify with the Italian culture and attitudes so it is not surprising that they would like to learn a bit of the language. If they have Italian relatives then this is more of an incentive to learn. Other than that, speaking Italian and English can have positive affects on your career and may even get you a job that not many other people would be qualified for.
In Europe, speaking Italian is useful for tourists that want to get off the beaten track. Indeed, many retired people often decide to settle in remote but idyllic parts of Italy, meaning a grasp of the language is necessary and would make it easier to settle in.
So, without doubt the best part of speaking a new language is being able to speak to people. Before this many people struggle to learn a language and may give up because it is boring.
Learning grammar and vocabulary through rote or reading a dictionary is opposite to how we gained our native tongues. We learned them through repetition and primarily an honest desire to use the language.
This is apparent if you have ever watched a baby learn a language. The child or baby hears his/her mother speaking words. Eventually the baby understands the meaning of the words. The next desire is to take part in the conversation.
At the start his/her grunts and mumbles may be unintelligible but eventually he/she will be able to say a few words. He/she will continue to hone these speaking skills by watching a listening to people around him.
When he/she gets to the stage where he/she is forming simple sentences then it is safe to say he/she understands all the basic building blocks to learning a language. From this point his/her ability to speak will increase at a rapid rate.
He/she will learn new words and start using them. He/she will get responses from people he/she talks to and learn from the experience. This will spur him/her on to learn more about the language. He/she will listen to his parents and grandparents who will teach him/her new words and explain meanings. He/she will never stop learning new things about the language just like everyone else.
This method is duplicated when learning a new language by immersing in the language. Immersion learning typically involves going to a country where the language you desire to learn is spoken.
This might seem terrifying initially. You are going to a country where you don't speak a word of the language and have to live. It may not be as daunting as you first think as you will probably have some basic words of the language. However the same methods by which a child learned to speak will now apply to you.
You are exposed to the language all the time. In order to communicate you have to speak it. In order to speak it you have to have the desire. And believe me, if you are living in a country where you don't have the language you have the desire.
Learning a new language is never easy however the desire to communicate will help you through the tough times. If you take a course in the Italian speaking country then you will also have some support in your desire to learn.
So the best way, in terms of method and speed, to learn Italian is to go to a country where it is spoken. Take a course and spend a few months there if possible. This will really bring on your understanding of the language.
